Got this interesting
article emailed to us today, how true.....
"Due to the increasing technical complexity of today’s vehicles,
expect the number of upfitters to fall. Only the truly technical
will be able to survive. In fact,
expect to see a list of recommended or approved upfitters from the
major aftermarket equipment suppliers. The days of jail inmates,
maintenance folks with the county highway department or a “guy” with
wire crimpers and a soldering iron doing the upfitting are about
over.
The cars are complex. The upfit gear is complex.
Mechanics turn wrenches. For upfitting, think software. Think high
tech. Imagine the results. No more keying the mic and having the
headlights flash. No more “check engine” light when the light bar is
activated. No more electrical fires in the police cars like the good
ol’ days. Goodbye to red wire-black wire, shade tree upfitters.
Hello to component recommended, technically savvy upfitters."
